KRAKOW, Poland (LifeSiteNews) – LifeSite is pleased to announce that Sacred Betrayals: A Widow Raises Her Voice Against the Corruption of the Francis Papacy has been translated into Polish and is available for sale from Wydawnictwo AA, a Krakow-based Catholic publishing company.
The book was first published in 2019 by Martha Alegría Reichmann, the widow of the former Honduran ambassador to the Vatican, Alejandro Valladares. Reichman courageously exposes a web of financial corruption and sex abuse cover-ups involving Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, a former top associate of Pope Francis who was once often referred to as the “vice pope.”
Sacred Betrayals was translated from the original Spanish into English by author and journalist Matthew Cullinan Hoffman. It is being sold by LifeSiteNews under its book imprint Faithful Insight. You can purchase copies in English in bulk or individually for your church, study group, or personal interest by clicking here. Click here to purchase it in Polish.
Wydawnictwo AA was founded in 1998. The company previously told LifeSite it wanted a Polish translation of Sacred Betrayals to increase the faithful’s awareness on the true depth of clerical corruption under the Francis papacy. Translator Jan J. Franczak (visit his website here) informed LifeSite this week that when AA approached him to complete the project, he was eager to get started.
“When I got the proposal to translate Sacred Betrayals, I didn’t hesitate much. I trust that my publisher would not suggest a book that would harm the Church,” he said.
“I guess like all Catholics I would like our priests and bishops to be a shining example of all possible virtues. But here we have not only an example of corruption among high-ranking hierarchs in the Vatican but also a homosexual scandal and cover-up which involved the Holy Father himself as well.”
“I would prefer to translate books about good priests and bishops and popes as I have already done (e.g. about Abp. Fulton J. Sheen or about Pope Benedict XVI). But Our Lord said: ‘The truth will set you free.’ So, we also need to know and expose the truth about these dark deeds of bad priests. …The crisis in the Church will continue if we have no courage to face the truth and root out the evil from the Church.
Franczak also extended praise to Reichmann for coming forward with her story, which he said must be more widely known.
“Martha Alegria Reichmann doesn’t seem like a person who would like to damage the Church or have any interest in doing so. I see here a person who was hurt by a bishop who used to be a friend of her husband and family for many years and betrayed that friendship.”
